Horse shoes are only lucky if the prongs are pointing upwards. If they are pointing down the luck will pour out!

England is the only country where the black cat is considered as lucky!

It is considered extremely lucky to be able to shake hands with a chimney sweep on your wedding day!

Witch's Poppet

The 'poppet' was a device used by witchs to aid the attempt to kill someone by a curse. This is a calf's heart, used like a voodoo doll with pins.

I am working on a new print at the moment about sin-eating. This was an act where a family would pay a sin-eater to absolve the sins of the recently deceased to make their pathway to the afterlife and easier one, and to grant them entry to heaven. The sin-eater would be paid sixpence and would eat corpse cake and drink wine using the coffin as a table which would symbolise the sins being eating. Often they would also eat any food that had been touched by the recently deceased. Often the sin-eaters would be homeless or poor people as they just wanted some food and money to live...
